Equally Safe in Higher Education Toolkit
Below you can find the Equally Safe in Higher Education (ESHE) Toolkit - a free and comprehensive resource developed by the University of Strathclyde and funded by the Scottish Government aimed at assisting Scottish Higher Education Institutions in preventing gender-based violence (GBV) on their campuses.
The ESHE Toolkit was developed over a period of two years by the ESHE Project Team, and its development included close collaborations between colleagues from Scottish HEIs, local government, NHS, student and trade unions, and the GBV/VAWG sectors, including EmilyTest. It has been designed to foster a strategic, institution-wide approach, including policy development, response mechanisms, and prevention and intervention strategies.
The ESHE Toolkit aligns with the priorities outlined in Scotland’s Equally Safe strategy, which focuses on the prevention of GBV through key principles. By implementing the guidance provided within the Toolkit, Scottish institutions can work towards creating safer campuses that proactively prevent GBV, and support those who have been subjected to it. Thus, the ESHE Toolkit formed the foundation for our GBV Charter.
